Hello all, I hope you’re all well and that you’re having a wonderful start to the year so far! I know everyone moans about January but the Grandma in me feels an overwhelming sense of calm once December is over… FOMO is positively non-existent, I can catch up on all the sleep I missed over Christmas and even though the weather is rubbish, there are faint hints of spring (my favourite season) on the horizon.
Another thing I love about January is that it feels like a clean slate. I don’t really set resolutions for myself as such, but I do like to have a few manageable goals in mind. The start of a brand new decade as well as a new year has got me feeling super fresh and inspired! So, here are a few of my ambitions going into 2020…
Continue to blog and improve my writing/photography. I really enjoyed getting back into blogging at the end of last year and I’m so looking forward to continuing with it into 2020. I feel like my writing/photography has come such a long way and I’m keen to carry on building my skills.
Continue to save. I’ll be the first the admit that I’m absolutely rubbish with money. However, these past few months I’ve been really strict with myself and I’ve managed to gradually build up my savings account. As nice as it is to treat yourself, paying off debts is so liberating and I’ve entered 2020 with a huge weight off my shoulders. I’m hoping I can stay as disciplined throughout the rest of the year!
Record the podcast I wrote the script for months ago! If you know me personally you’ll be aware I’m obsessed with anything true crime related – so much so that I’ve been planning on recording my own podcast! I’ve got a list of cases I want to cover in the notes app on my phone and I completed a few scripts before Christmas. I have absolutely zero experience in recording/editing audio so it’s obviously a work in progress, but something I’m hoping to tackle over the coming months.
Get back into running. I go through phases with exercise – sometimes I’m really motivated and keen to get my sweat on and other times the thought of going to the gym fills me with dread. One activity I’ve always enjoyed, however, is running – I find it just as beneficial for my mental health as well as my physical health. If I’m feeling stressed or anxious, going for a jog always helps clear my head and vent any pent-up emotions. Now the weather is getting a little brighter (ish) I’ve been really enjoying a morning run and I’m hoping to establish some sort of routine in order to balance out my chocolate addiction!
Travel. At the beginning of every year I vow to travel to at least one new country. In 2018 and 2019 I was lucky enough to visit some incredible places and I’m hoping 2020 will be no different! I’m heading to Boston with my mom in October which I’m super excited for (I’ve wanted to visit New England for ages) and I’m hoping to book a few short city breaks, too – Copenhagen and Amsterdam are on my list!
What are your goals for 2020?
These are some great goals for the year, I’m hoping to travel more and to focus a lot more on my blog as well! Good luck to you and your goals Katie xx

Good luck with all of your goals! I’m obsessed with anything true crime related too, so I’m looking forward to your podcast!
Good luck with all of your goals! I got back into blogging last year, and so glad that I did. Once you get into the swing of things, you wonder why you stopped xx
