Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day – it’s the first thing I think about when I wake up in the morning (sad, I know). It’s also my favourite meal to eat out, so I love discovering new places to indulge my obsession. My mom and I visited Medicine Bakery in Codsall last week and it ticked every box for me – a mouth-watering menu, friendly staff and the most instagrammable setting!

How good do those cakes look?! No matter how strong your willpower, they’ll be sure to draw you in.

The cafe itself is super spacious and cosy, adorned in greenery with an array of fresh cakes and breads on display (like I said, an Instagrammer’s dream!) We arrived pretty early (around 10am) and it already looked fairly busy. By the time we were ready to leave it was really filling up, so if you’re visiting near lunchtime or over the weekend I’d recommend booking a table.
I was spoilt for choice when it came to ordering. There’s a huge variety of food available – sandwiches, soups, Buddha bowls, pancakes and – my favourite – sourdough toast. I was feeling especially indecisive (and greedy) so I decided to order two dishes. I went for poached egg/smashed avocado and a smoothie bowl while my mom had a vegetarian breakfast. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted delicious! I loved how fresh and colourful the food looked – it reminded me of the restaurants/cafes in Australia.

Despite being comfortably full when we finished, we of course had room for cake! We took an almond croissant for the road and picked up a loaf of sourdough bread (which I enjoyed toasted and slathered in butter the next morning). I was very tempted by the hefty selection of cronuts, too – I’ll tackle one for sure next time.

If you’re ever in the area I’d wholly recommend giving Medicine a try. The setting is wonderful, the staff are super attentive and most importantly, the food is delicious. There’s also a venue in central Birmingham if you’re closer to the city!

lovely post and I love your photography too. I don’t have a fav place for breakfast because I am diabetic so I prefer making my own breakfast ( so I know exactly what I eat … for my personal health ) but I do love my local café called : Rustic Bean. They do amazing avocado on toast etc. ( they are based in Banbury) and their coffee is the best in my town.

Great content! Super high-quality! Keep it up! 🙂
Like you, breakfast is my favourite meal and I always look foward to it when I wake up! I love having breakfast out in cafes, it feels like an extra special start to the day. Medicine Bakery looks like a beautiful and relaxing space for that – and that smashed avocado looks super good!
