As much as I love make-up, if I can get out of wearing it, I will! I apply a full face for work or date night but for anything else I like to let my skin breathe. However, since being in lock down I’ve found it difficult to get into any sort of routine. These are such strange times we’re living in and I know I speak for many when I say it’s hard to feel productive. Therefore, to retain a sense of normality I’ve started spending a few minutes in the morning applying a little make-up. After all, it’s what I do for a living and a huge part of who I am, so even though I’m not able to leave the house, putting my face on has been making me feel so much better.
After I’ve showered and carried out my morning skincare routine, I like to apply a tinted moisturiser. My favourite is the Charlotte Tilbury Unisex Healthy Glow – this is perfect if you’re after an undetectable, natural coverage. Your skin still shows through; it just evens everything out nicely. I always apply this with fingers as you need to be quite vigorous to blend it in. Luckily, there’s no need to wait to go into store for a colour match as it comes in one shade and simply adapts to your skin tone.
Unless I have blemishes, I usually skip concealer when I’m wearing minimal make-up. I’ve always been lucky in that I don’t tend to get dark circles, especially now I have the chance to catch up on sleep! I do like to open my eyes with lash curlers and mascara, though. If I fancy a smokier look I’ll smudge some brown eyeliner/eye shadow into my upper lash line and blend it up into my lid space. Most of the time though I’ll just rely on my trusty curlers and lashings of Maybelline Lash Sensational.
Blush is my favourite product to apply so a bit of colour in my cheeks is always essential, even with a minimal make-up look! My favourite at the moment is the Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand in Peachgasm. This is the most gorgeous rose gold shade – perfect for most skin tones! I apply it straight from the sponge onto the apples of my cheeks and then blend it up onto my temples using my fingers. If I’m wearing a full face I like to apply a little powder blush on top, but for a more natural look it’s beautiful on its own.
Lastly, I like to keep my lips hydrated 24/7 (especially with all the windy dog walks I’ve been going on!) At night I still love using my Nuxe lip balm, but it’s a little too rich for daytime. Instead I’ve been applying the Charlotte Tilbury Collagen Lip Bath in Refresh Rose. This is one of my favourite products of all time – it literally makes your lips look like liquid glass! It’s also enriched with peppermint and coconut oil, meaning it feels (and smells) amazing.
Have you been wearing make-up during quarantine? What are your favourite products? x
Lucky that you don’t tend to get dark circles. Nice makeup routine
