It’s been a hot minute since I’ve sat and written a post here! For the past eight months I’ve been committing my energy to other projects (more on that soon!), meaning my blog unfortunately had to take a back seat. I’ve missed this space so much however and I’m hoping I’ll now be able to devote more time to it.
Today I thought I’d write a good old fashioned skincare post! On reflection my routine hasn’t changed that much since my last entry (Charlotte Tilbury is still a firm fave), but there are a few new products I’ve been using that I want to rave about.
Lacura Healthy Glow Retinol Toner. If you know me personally you’ll be aware that I love me some Aldi skincare! I always pick up a couple of these toners whenever I do a food shop as they’re so cheap and an amazing dupe for the Pixi Glow Tonic. Since using this I’ve noticed the appearance of my skin has improved and I’ve been getting less spots.
I also use the Lacura Hot Cloth Cleanser which has pretty much the exact same ingredients as Liz Earle’s Cleanse and Polish.
Weleda Skin Food. I’ve always had pretty normal skin but for the past year or so it’s been getting so dry. I’d been hearing good things about the Weleda moisturiser for a while so I decided to give it a go and it quickly became a staple in my routine. I don’t tend to reach for it during the day as I find it a bit too rich to wear under make-up but I love slathering it on before bed. Amazing stuff and it’s cheap as chips!
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream. I’ve waxed lyrical about Magic Cream numerous times on my blog – it’s one of the only moisturisers that hydrates my dry skin. Even though it’s fairly rich, it’s not greasy at all and sits beautifully under make-up. I also like to keep a pot of it in my kit as I find it suits just about everyone.
Charlotte has now replaced the plastic jar with glass, meaning it’s better for the environment plus it looks even more luxe on your dressing table.
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue. I’ve been using this morning and night for several years now and it makes such a difference to how my concealer sits. I’ve always been quite lucky in that I don’t really struggle with dark circles but I do sometimes get dry under eyes and this really helps. It’s enriched with coconut oil and shea butter so it’s super hydrating and has a really lovely texture. It also lasts ages!
Charlotte Tilbury Goddess Skin Clay Mask. This is probably one of my favourite beauty products of all time and one I always come back to. Whenever I have an event coming up or I just feel like my skin needs a bit of TLC I reach for this. It leaves my complexion feeling fresh and hydrated without the horrible dry, crumbly texture that often comes with clay masks. I also keep a tube in my kit as it’s amazing for brides!
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Serum Crystal Elixir. This has been doing the rounds on TikTok and it’s not difficult to see why. I’ve found this has made such a different to the texture of my skin – my pigmentation appears less pronounced, my make-up sits better and my complexion feels smooth and hydrated. As always with Charlotte’s products, the packaging is also absolutely beautiful!
Caudalie Beauty Elixir. If you read blogs/watched YouTube around 2012-2014 you’ll remember how obsessed the beauty community was with this product! It’s not something I use consistently but I do like to treat myself to a bottle every so often. If you’ve never tried it it’s essentially a spray mist that can be used to tone the skin and prime/set your make-up. I love to include it in my evening routine as the scent makes me feel so relaxed. Again, it’s an amazing product for the kit as it’s perfect for nervous brides!
