Anyone who knows me will tell you I love my sleep. One element of my evening that I always look forward to is the half an hour or so before I go to bed – I like to give myself a mini pamper and read a book/listen to a Podcast or two. That 30 minutes of “me time” is something I really cherish, especially after a long day at work!
Whilst I carry out the majority of my skincare routine in the bathroom, I always have a few products at hand to aid my beauty sleep and help me unwind. Here are my current favourites:
Burt’s Bees Almond and Milk Hand Cream. My skin is super dry this time of year so I always like to keep a hand cream close by. This one by Burt’s Bees is heavy duty stuff – it’s a little thick for day to day use but perfect as a luxurious treat before bed! I apply a generous amount as I’m settling down for the evening and my hands always feel so soft when I wake up the next morning. It smells amazing, too!
Caudalie Beauty Elixir. As well as carrying this around in my makeup bag during the day, I like to keep a bottle on my bedside table, too. It freshens and hydrates my skin whilst the scent instantly makes me feel pampered and relaxed. A perfect addition to my evening skincare routine.
Botanics Peaceful Night Lavender Roller Ball. I’m not one who struggles to fall asleep as such but sometimes I do have trouble switching off my thoughts (especially if I’m stressed!), so I was recently on the look out for something to help me unwind. I was initially going to buy a pillow spray, but as I use the Caudalie Elixir I decided to opt for a lavender oil instead. I picked up this little roller ball from Boots – I use it on my wrists, temples and behind my ears. I apply it around 20 minutes before I plan to go to sleep and it really helps clear my head.
Nuxe Honey Lip Balm. I suffer from dry lips all year round so I always like to have a decent lip balm at hand. This one by Nuxe is one of the best I’ve found – it’s incredibly rich yet it doesn’t feel at all sticky or greasy. It does an amazing job at keeping my lips plump and hydrated – In fact, it’s the only balm I’ve ever tried that I can still feel the next morning! It has a very pleasant citrus scent to it, too.
Slip Pure Silk Sleep Mask. I’d never tried an eye mask until last year when I went travelling. I bought a cheap one from Amazon to help me sleep on the long flight to Australia – but it turns out it was super handy in the hostels, too! Sharing a room with strangers was an experience to say the least (particularly challenging when people would come in at all hours of the night and throw the lights on). Thankfully, my eye mask and ear plugs helped cancel out distractions.
Now I’m back in my own bed I don’t reach for the earplugs but I still like to use an eye mask from time to time! The Pure Sleep Mask is made from 100% mulberry silk and feels so soft and luxurious. It’s also supposed to reduce the appearance of fine lines/wrinkles and naturally hydrate the skin.
What beauty products are on your bedside table?
The Nuxe lip balm is the absolute best! I use it every night before sleep, but also in the morning before applying lipstick. I love using handcream right before bed too. Having a bedtime ritual makes it much easier to fall asleep and feel relaxed!
