As someone who used to lug the entirety of their make-up stash around in their handbag, I like to think I’ve come a long way in ensuring my on-the-go selection is a little more streamlined. Whilst I carry out my beauty routine first thing, I always keep a few of my favourite products close by in case I’m in need of a touch-up or I’m heading out for last minute after-work drinks. Here are my current essentials:
Charlotte Tilbury Retoucher Concealer. This is hands down the best concealer I’ve ever used; it’s full coverage yet incredibly lightweight, meaning you can use as little or as much as you like and it won’t ever look cakey. Due to the super thin consistency, it doesn’t separate when applied on top of powder, so you can cheat the freshly applied make-up look with minimal effort.
Charlotte Tilbury Collagen Lip Bath. I’ll usually have a few lipsticks knocking around in my handbag but I always find myself reaching for this when I’m out and about. Enriched with coconut oil and peppermint extract, it hydrates and nourishes your lips whilst enhancing your pout. I adore how glossy this is – it literally looks like liquid glass! Perfect for no make-up days or for simply making your lipstick pop.
Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon in ‘Bronzed Garnet.’ For days where I’m in a rush and apply my eye make-up on the train, I always like to have a Colour Chameleon at hand. These are chunky shadow pencils that deliver 24-hour wear without smudging or creasing. I like to scribble these across my lid and along my waterline before blending with a brush (or my fingers if I’m feeling especially lazy). I own a few shades but my favourite by far is Bronzed Garnet – it’s a gorgeous ruby red tone that looks amazing with any eye colour.
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder. For years I was scared of powder due to my skin being so dry. However, the Airbrush Flawless Finish is enriched with almond oil and rose wax meaning it’s super hydrating and doesn’t settle into any creases. I usually reapply this once or twice throughout the day to take away any excess shine – it’s so finely milled it never makes my skin appear overly-powdered.
Caudalie Beauty Elixir. I featured this in my Bedside Health and Beauty post last week – while I use it morning and night after moisturising, I also like to carry it around with me during the day. If my skin’s looking a little dull or my make-up needs refreshing I give it a spray – it instantly lifts my complexion and makes it look healthy and hydrated. There seems to be mixed reviews on the scent but personally I love it – it smells so luxurious; like you’ve had a spa treatment!
Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow. I’ve been using this product for just over three years now and I love it just as much as I did when I first discovered it. The bronzer is perfect for most skin tones (I use it when I’m fair and when I’ve got a bit of a tan) whilst the highlight provides the most beautiful rose-gold glow. I’m also obsessed with the super sleek packaging (fun fact – it was actually inspired by a 1920’s cigarette box, which makes me adore it all the more).
Nars Orgasm Blush. Arguably the most famous Blush of all time, Orgasm by Nars certainly lives up to its rave reviews. I received this as a birthday gift back in May and I’ve used it every day since. It’s the most gorgeous, peachy pink shade with a subtle rose-gold shimmer running through it. It’s incredibly flattering on the skin and looks amazing paired with any make-up look.
Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara. As I mentioned just, I sometimes apply my eye make-up on the train when I’m in a rush, so I always like to have a mascara in my make-up bag. I’ve been using this one by Maybelline for several years now and it’s perfect for creating long, fluffy lashes. For my bottom lashes I rely on the Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara as it’s the only one that doesn’t transfer onto my under-eye area. The tiny brush is also perfect for getting into corners you wouldn’t be able to reach with a normal-sized wand!
Are you a fan of any of the products I mentioned? What are your on-the-go beauty essentials?
