I first discovered Podcasts back in 2018 and they have long since become a part of my daily routine. I listen when I’m driving, walking the dog, doing my make-up, cleaning – I even fall asleep to them! I used to solely listen to True Crime but over the years I’ve branched out and now enjoy a range of topics. Today I thought I’d share some of my favourite podcasts; these are the shows I return to again and again and would happily binge for hours on end!

Killer Queens
This one’s a must for millennials! Probably my favourite True Crime Podcast, Killer Queens is hosted by two sisters who are obsessed with all things 90’s. I love their banter and pop culture references! Not only does their main feed have close to 500 episodes, their Patreon is fantastic – they release an extra 2-3 bonus episodes a week, including a ‘Doc Jams’ where they discuss a recent true crime documentary.
Stand-out episodes: The Amityville Horror, White House Farm Murders, Darlie Routier – Reasonable Doubt?, The Boy Band Con, Missing – Brianna Maitland
The Law of Attraction Changed My Life
This podcast never fails to cheer me up when I’m having a down day or I’m feeling uninspired. I discovered it at the perfect time – I’d just made the decision to quit my job and go fully freelance and it completely changed my mindset. I went from feeling overwhelmed and helpless to having complete faith in myself and my business. Fran (the host) is so down-to-earth and charismatic (I could literally listen to her read the phone book!) and I’ve loved learning about her and her journey. This one’s a must if you’re looking for some guidance or fancy something light-hearted and positive!
Stand-out episodes: Miracle Morning – 6 Habits That Will Change Your Life Before 8AM, Manifesting Houses & Love Blockages with Love Island’s Amy Hart, What’s Your Yacht?, Is Your Self Care Really Sabotage?, How To Create a Manifestation Box, The Top 4 Most Shocking Manifestations
Radio Rental
One thing people may not know about me is that I love anything supernatural/horror related. Radio Rental is my favourite spooky podcast – each episode features 2-3 creepy stories (or ‘tapes’) that have been submitted by listeners and are read by voice actors. The cases range from paranormal occurrences to close encounters with serial killers. It’s hosted by Rainn Wilson (Dwight from The Office) who plays Terry Carnation – an 80’s-inspired video store manager. Some of the stories are really unsettling (don’t listen at night!) but Terry’s segments take the edge off.
Stand out episodes: 404 Not Found, Babysitter, What Was She Planning?, Camp Counsellor, Highway Hitchhiker, Crematorium, Deep Sleep, The Encounter, Attached Entity
You’re Wrong About
You’re Wrong About is my most recent podcast addiction – I came across it around 6 months ago and immediately binged every episode. Host Sarah Marshall is a journalist who’s obsessed with history and pop culture, and every week she’s joined by a different guest to explore and debunk various topics. Discussions range from cultural events, conspiracy theories, moral panic, urban legends and much more. It’s entertaining, thought-provoking and always leaves me feeling like I’ve learnt something. I also love Sarah’s deadpan humour!
Stand out episodes: The McDonald’s Hot Coffee Case, Princess Diana, Urban Legends Spectacular, Tonya Harding, Halloween Special: Creepy Encounters, Karen Carpenter, Vicki Morgan, The Cottingley Fairies, Amy Winehouse, Celebrity Book Club: Britney Spears
Murder With My Husband
Another true crime podcast I love! Murder With My Husband is hosted by real-life couple Payton and Garrett. While Payton is true crime obsessed, poor Garrett isn’t a fan. The dynamic is a little different to other podcasts – rather than both hosts telling the story, Payton explains the case to Garret and we get to experience his genuine reaction, which is refreshing. Many of the cases featured are less well-known and are always relayed with compassion and respect. Payton is an amazing story-teller and I love her and Garrett’s chemistry.
Stand out episodes: The Infamous Interrogation of Ryan Waller, Cari Farver – The Blame Game, Seath Jackson – The Evil Six, Disappearances Caught on Camera, Daniel Morecambe – The Kind Brother, Dian Schuler – Taconic State Parkway Crash, Lisa Nowak – The Love Triangle From Space
Wellness Her Way
This is hosted by the gorgeous Gracie Norton, a content creator and wellness influencer. I’ve always loved watching her recipe videos and morning routines on Tik Tok, so I was super excited when she announced she was releasing a podcast! Every week Gracie is joined by a different health/wellness expert such as doctors, personal trainers, nutritionists and beauty/skincare specialists. I find Gracie’s approach so refreshing and I love her energy. I like to listen to this on my morning walks when I need a palette cleanser from true crime or just fancy something wholesome!
Stand out episodes: How I Embraced My Healing Journey, Life in Balance with Sanne Vloet, Staple Wellness Practices to Take into the New Year, Foundations of Health, Living Intuitively for Your Body with Kate Austin, Wellness Rapid Fire Q&A with Dr. Amich
Honourable Mentions
These are podcasts that I still enjoy and listen to, but not as regularly as the above!

Crime Junkie. This was the show that first got me into podcasts – I listened religiously back in the day and also used to subscribe to their Patreon, so it’s definitely worth an honourable mention!
Crimelines. A true crime podcast that is well-researched and has great pacing. The cases are interesting and there’s very little frill/off-topic conversation.
You Are Good. A podcast dedicated to feel-good films! It’s hosted by Sarah Marshall (from You’re Wrong About) and journalist Alex Steed. I love the episodes on childhood favourites such as The Parent Trap, The Little Mermaid and Anastasia.
This Is Actually Happening. I started listening to this very recently after hearing it was similar to Radio Rental. It features remarkable and often inconceivable true stories, all told by the people who experienced them. Very interesting and incredibly harrowing at times.
True Crimecast. Another true crime podcast I’ve listened to for years! John and Jamie have great rapport and are both excellent story-tellers. I love the ‘Crime To-Go’ cases (a true crime story in ten minutes or less) which are the perfect accompaniment to a quick coffee break.
Swindled. I haven’t listened to this for a while but I remember really enjoying it when I first discovered it. Narrated by an anonymous host, Swindled ‘explores the world of white-collar crime, con artists and corporate greed.’ Eeach episode is spectacularly researched and I love the delivery. I shall have to get back into this one!
Series
Most podcasts I listen to feature a different subject per episode. The shows below are some of my favourite series.
Sweet Bobby. I can’t go into too much detail about this podcast without giving the story away – I’ll just say it centres around catfishing and leave it at that! Sweet Bobby is completely binge-worthy and perfect for those who are a fan of true crime but want something a little lighter.
America’s Girls. A really interesting podcast about the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. It’s a great follow up if you enjoyed the recent America’s Sweethearts documentary on Netflix.
CounterClock Season 3: The Pelley Murders. This is another true crime series that completely blew me away! I downloaded it after it was recommended to me by a friend. It centres around Jeff Pelley, a 17-year-old pastor’s son who was arrested for allegedly murdering his family. I won’t say much more as again I don’t want to ruin the story, but it’s a rollercoaster case.
My Dad Wrote a Porno. I’m sure everyone who is familiar with podcasts has heard of this one! I remember listening on a road trip to Cornwall a few years back. It’s fun, cringe-worthy and laugh-out-loud hilarious. I need to re-visit it!
Yuba County Five. In 1978, five young men head out to a basketball game in California and never return. The events that unfold after are tragic and completely baffling. This podcast covers the case in detail, interviewing friends/family members and dissecting the timeline.
Podcasts I Loved That Are Defunct/No Longer Updated
These are podcasts I’ve adored that are sadly no more… still, many of them have an amazing back catalogue worth binging! These are all true crime podcasts.
Resting Witch Face, So What Do You Think?, Deathbed Confessions, The Darker Side of Life
Are you a podcast fan? What are your favourite shows? I’d love to know! x
