On Saturday my fiancé and I went out in Ironbridge for the evening. It was the same price to stay overnight as it was to order taxis there and back, so we decided to book an Air B&B. That meant we could enjoy a walk and breakfast in town the following morning.
I’ve popped the map for the walk we did below. It tells you to park at the Woodbridge Inn in Coalport, but it’s for customers only (they do do a great Sunday roast if that sways you!). There’s plenty of alternative parking throughout the route, so you can start the walk wherever.
If you do park at the Woodbridge, the trail begins at The Severn Valley Way. You walk pretty much straight along the river until you reach Ironbridge town centre.

One of my favourite parts of the walk – the Maws Craft Centre in Jackfield. A collection of gorgeous independent shops, it’s a wonderful hidden gem. I’ve visited Ironbridge many times over the years and only came across this when I followed the All Trails route! I always pop in and have a look around if I can.

There’s also a good cafe here. We grabbed coffee and cake to keep us going before our breakfast reservation.

Always a latte for me and a cappuccino for Ol!

It was a beautiful misty morning. I so appreciate this weather after the countless heatwaves we had over summer.

There’s lots of architecture to admire along the way. How pretty is this cottage?

The Iron Bridge in all its glory – built in 1779, it’s become an international symbol of the industrial revolution.
There’s plenty to see and do around the town if you want to explore. Lots of independent shops, cafes and museums.

Once you’ve passed through the town, the route continues on the other side of the river along the road. It’s not quite as picturesque as the first half of the walk, so you can turn back and return the way you came if you prefer.

You’re spoilt for choice with pubs. One day we’ll visit them all!
Once we’d finished our walk, we jumped in the car to head to Embers in Coalbrookdale. We visited last year for their steak night and it was fantastic, so we were excited for breakfast!
Embers is tucked away in the woodland next to The Greenwood Centre. It’s such a unique setting – you feel as if you’re in the middle of an American national park! The sun had made an appearance by this point so we were able to sit outside.

Even though the coffee and cake had filled a void, we were both famished after our walk (perhaps too much alcohol the night before!) so we ordered a full English each. It was absolutely delicious; the meat is cooked on the BBQ outside so the sausages and bacon had a wonderful smoky flavour.
I’m already excited for my next visit – I’d like to try their Sunday roast next.
After breakfast we headed home with full bellies, ready for a cup of tea and afternoon nap. Hope you had a lovely weekend!
